People of the Parade

Tel Aviv celebrated its nineteenth Gay Pride Parada on Friday, June 9, 2017. This year the theme of the parade was bisexual visibility. Some 200,000 people took part in Tel Aviv's Gay Pride Parade, and approximately 30,000 of the revellers joined from abroad. This city's parade is considered one of the largest, not only in the Middle East and Asia, but also in the world. This year's parade made its way through the heart of the city, from Meir Park until the seafront relatively close to Jaffa, ending up in a party surrounded by the skyscrapers, a tent, music and rainbow flags.

However, LGBT community in Israel still seeks rights. The Jerusalem Post published an article (June 2017) that states that, according to Aguda, the National Association of LGBT in Israel, 500 cases a year of homophobic attack have been reported, and the numbers might be higher since not all the aggressions are recounted. This same article says that the government budget for promoting LGBT tourism was more than six times the amount assigned to LGBT welfare.
